CLASSICS
Classical Greek Certificate
Classical Greek Club is for Third and Fourth Form students who want to commit to learning Ancient Greek. There will be an hour lesson every week, after School, following the Intermediate Certificate in Ancient Greek, and at the end of the 50-hour guided teaching sessions, these students sit an assessment that equates to a Level 1, pre-GCSE award. The aim is for successful candidates to continue their Greek studies and work towards a Classical Greek GCSE.
The Hylocomian Society
This is the School’s Classics Society, named after John Hylocomius, a Headmaster of the School in the 16th century who was a renowned classical scholar and grammarian. The aim of the Society is to broaden pupils’ knowledge and understanding of the ancient world through lectures given by visiting speakers, trips to museums, conferences and theatrical productions and seminars.
Lower School Classics Club
Classics Club introduces the history, societies, and myths of the ancient world to Lower School pupils. Activities include playing top trumps, creating myths, and participating in various quizzes.
