Spanish Theatre Workshop
Sixth Form Spanish students were delighted to receive bilingual actress Fuensanta Vera from the Cervantes Theatre company at the end of April. Following our trip to see the performance of La Casa de Bernarda Alba in March, our Spanish classroom was turned into a theatre workshop for several hours.
Repression, freedom, honour and tradition in the villages of 1930s Andalusia were brought to life in the classroom. Key moments of the play were read, analysed and performed, in order that our A level pupils have a consolidated awareness of the nuances of Lorca’s play.
Doughnuts, coffee and plenty of enthusiasm contributed to an energetic Friday afternoon of modern Spanish drama, while cross-curricular links between Spanish, drama and history were evident. Mil gracias to the Cervantes Theatre, actress Fuen and the commitment of our Sixth Form Hispanists.
