Activities Week
Pupils have been enjoying a wealth of enrichment activities and trips over the past week. Here follows a little recap of various activities that went on during the week.
First Formers enjoyed a Marketing Workshop. The activity involved rebranding existing companies by creating a logo, strapline and poster. The groups worked very hard together and finished by presenting their ideas.
Second Formers went on a History enrichment trip to Hampton Court Palace. The boys learned all about Elizabeth I's connections to Persia and Morocco, delivered by a Tudor ambassador.
Lower School pupils were excited for their puppetry, make-up and mask activity. The interactive activities were an engaging opportunity to get creative and learn more about what goes on behind the scenes.
Second Formers learned about prosthetic limbs and how the hand works. They built a prosthetic hand and tried picking up different objects and even played a game of Catch.
Fourth Form enjoyed an adventurous trip to The Edge. The group spent the day zorbing, practising archery, playing laser tag, zip lining and air rifle shooting.
Lower Sixth Form pupils visited The Centre for Computing History. They had a tour, played some classic games from the 1980s, did some BBC BASIC programming and experienced the fetch-execute cycle with the megaprocessor.
Third Formers enjoyed a great day out at Whipsnade Zoo where they enjoyed talks and learnt more about what happens behind the scenes at the zoo.
Third Form pupils also visited Bletchley Park and The National Museum of Computing. They had a guided tour of TNMOC with some excellent presentations on early computing, including Colossus and Enigma.
A Level PE students experienced a great day with James Barber (OA, 2014) at the Altitude Center. They experienced training at 2,700m, for a brief period at 6,000m and also enjoyed an excellent lecture on uses and methods of training.
Lower School pupils watched the interactive French play La Maison Hantée. It was a great chance to put their skills into practice with its funny and relatable dialogue. Thanks to Onatti Productions for a wonderful language-learning experience!
