The Chamber Music Day is a new initiative in which leading professional Chamber Music coaches come in and work intensively with our elite ensembles across an entire day, culminating in a performance of the works in an afternoon concert. We were lucky to welcome brothers Michal and Filip Ćwiżewicz, both leading Anglo-Polish violinists with a huge amount of experience between them working with young musicians.
The transformation of all four groups across the day was palpable, and the standard of the concert was superb. The Ćwiżewicz brothers also joined with three of our violinists to perform a twentieth century work for violin ensemble by Grażyna Bacewicz, which was brought off with aplomb by all involved. The whole day was preparation both for the annual Chamber Music Concert next term, and our entry into the Pro Corda National Chamber Music Competition in January. On the basis of their progress yesterday, the future is bright for all of these groups.
