REMEMBRANCE

Our act of remembrance is an annual opportunity to renew our commitment to fight, metaphorically, for the values that your predecessors gave their lives to protect – liberty, democracy, justice, the rule of law, the triumph of good over evil.

On Friday 10 November the School community came together for the annual Remembrance Service in the Abbey. Our Headmaster spoke about former pupils (OAs) who gave their lives during World Wars I and II, and all the fallen were commemorated by two moving anthems from the choir.

Afterwards, wreaths were laid at the War Memorial and a moment of silence was held to remember all those who have died in conflict, past and present.

The Roll of Honour Book, containing the names of Old Albanians who died in the World Wars, being processed to the altar together with the medals of Walter Swinnerton (OA 1938) who was killed in action in 1943.
