FOCUS ON FRENCH
Spelling Bee in the First Form
This month, seven boys from the First Form competed in the interform Spelling Bee Competition. They had to translate words into French and spell them out in French in one minute.
Nathan came third with a total of 13 words; Yusuf came second with 17 words; and with only one word more - 18 in total - came Daaniyal. Well done to all the boys who took part and prepared themselves so well for this competition.
French Poetry Analysis and Discussion in the Sixth Form
Our French A Level enjoyed a fascinating session examining the work of rapper and writer Abd al Malik. With the guidance and expertise of Dr Cathy Hampton from the University of Warwick, pupils analysed Abd al Malik's song Soldat de Plomb [Toy Soldier]. This discussion was also conducted entirely in French!
Interactive Play - Le Chateau
The First and Second Form had a great time laughing and shouting ‘Bonjour’ and various other pieces of French vocabulary during the interactive play Le Chateau [The Castle]. Several pupils practised their French on stage, and were rewarded with raucous rounds of applauses.
