SKI TRIP TO VERMONT
A group of Third and Fourth Form pupils travelled to Jay Peak Resort in Vermont, northern United States. After the frustrations of a delayed outward flight they had an action-packed week with full days of skiing followed by exhilarating après-ski fun in the huge indoor water park and the fantastic climbing gym.
All the beginners made great progress, and by the end of the week were able to competently navigate the main resort runs. The skiing conditions varied throughout the week, giving the more advanced skiers the chance to develop their skills in dealing with different types of terrain. Fortunately, the much-talked-about late-winter storm was not as brutal as anticipated but delivered several feet of fresh powder snow. Many of the group learnt the hard way why you need to put your skis outside early on such days to avoid the ice crystals turning the surface of your skis to velcro!
The trip finished with a day touring the beautiful city of Boston and learning lots of interesting facts and some funny stories about American history. Overall, a fantastic time was had by all!
