STEPHEN HAWKING SOCIETY LECTURE AND DINNER
On Friday 17 May, the Sixth Form were treated to the last Stephen Hawking Society lecture of the year on Quantum Entanglement presented by University of Cambridge professor, Dr Dorian Gangloff. Dr Gangloff’s lecture provided an insightful exploration into the intricate and often perplexing world of quantum entanglement or, as Einstein referred to it, “spooky action at a distance”. His explanation of the complexities of entanglement and its future applications opened up a new avenue of prospective research topics for many of us. Although I am not an A Level Physics pupil, the way in which Dr Gangloff explained quantum entanglement was intriguing and expanded my knowledge of what humans are capable of.

The lecture was followed by a wonderful dinner and the ambiance of the Hall, decorated beautifully with tablecloths adorning the tables and balloons hung on the walls, perfectly complemented the sophistication of the event. I would like to extend my gratitude to the Stephen Hawking Society Committee, Mr Olivas Ramos and all those that attended the dinner for orchestrating such a memorable night. The seamless blend of intellectual stimulation and sophistication made for an enriching experience that I am sure will be remembered fondly by all those in attendance.
