PUPIL REPORT: CCF ADVENTURE DAY
The CCF recently enjoyed an Adventure Day at Herts Young Mariners Base. Our first activity was caving. We put on our equipment and were taught how to fit through a variation of holes by crawling on our stomachs or leaning in our side. We navigated the cave with our guides whilst going through various obstacles.
After caving we swapped to our swimwear and got ready for the next activity: canoeing. Before setting off on our trip, the instructors made us do a series of challenges to test our ability. These ranged from heading to the bank to get a leaf or learning how to paddle sideways. We then went off and proceeded to do a circuit of the water course with the instructors getting us to play bulldog and compete in a race.
After lunch, our final activity was paddleboarding. We went onto the water and, after going past the stronger currents nearest the bank, we were given more challenges to do. We tried jumping on the board, doing headstands, forward roles and anything else the instructors could think of. We were then paired up and played a game where we would share a board between two and try to shake each other off by shaking it. After much fun, we came off the water and got back into dry clothes ready to go home. Overall, it was a very eventful and fun day! Thank you to the CCF for running it.
