ALDEBURGH MUSIC FESTIVAL TRIP
On 8 June, a small group of musicians embarked on the annual Music trip to the picturesque town of Aldeburgh. This was my third year taking part in this trip, and it once again did not disappoint.
We departed in the early morning, and right upon arrival, we attended an impressive violin performance of Brahms' Violin Sonatas by Daniel Pioro; his skill was truly remarkable.
This was my third year taking part in this trip, and it once again did not disappoint.
After the performance, we enjoyed some free time and food outside the famous Snape Maltings Concert Hall. Following lunch, we took a stroll through Aldeburgh, visited the resting place of Benjamin Britten, and enjoyed some delicious ice cream from one of the local shops.
In the afternoon, we attended an open rehearsal by the London Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO), where they were working on Benjamin Britten's suite from the ballet The Prince of the Pagodas and Bartók's suite from The Miraculous Mandarin. Observing the conductor’s interaction with the musicians was particularly interesting, especially because the LPO is an orchestra of such high calibre.
Later, we returned to the town for Aldeburgh's famous fish and chips – regarded as one of the best fish and chips in the country! Finally, we spent some time at the beach before heading back to St Albans School.
