CABARET
Our Cabaret is one of the highlights of our musical year and, in the words of Mr Young, was full of some ‘absolute bangers’.
The first half traversed musical hits from the 1950s through to the 1990s with highlights including ‘Gee, Officer Krupke!’ from West Side Story and ‘Be Our Guest’ from Beauty and the Beast in which Sixth Former Emmanuel appeared singing from within the audience.
Mr Young together with Mr Squibb also engineered a huge sci-fi film score medley, beginning with the iconic opening to ET moving into Star Wars, Quantum Leap and the theme tune to Stranger Things, all accompanied by an amusing slideshow of video effects.
In the second half pupils performed some classic rock anthems which were favourites of Mr Mick Stout including ‘Iris’ by the Goo Goo Dolls and ‘Black Velvet’ by Alannah Myles, featuring a wonderful harmony from Olivia and Dr Saunders.
