FLIGHT TESTS
Flight Club started this year, and provides an opportunity for pupils from Third Form upwards to learn about the history of aircraft and how they work. Several remote-control aircraft (such as the legendary Spitfire) were purchased to allow members to learn to fly and put their practice from a simulator to the test. We recently had our first flying day at the Woollams Playing Fields where eight members (and two staff) had the opportunity to take to the skies!
Going into next year, we plan to have monthly flying days so that more pupils have a chance to fly. We also hope to build and fly our largest model aircraft! As this is a pupil-led club, when members enter the Sixth Form they will take on the management of the club and learn key skills such as organisation and planning which are very important for the future.
