DIGI-FEST
At the end of the Summer Term, the Teaching and Learning Team ran DigiFest, a series of CPD sessions for staff focusing on using technology in the classroom. These talks aim to support staff in a variety of ways.
This year’s sessions unsurprisingly included AI and offered fruitful discussions on the challenges and potential it offers. Concluding a successful year of the new staff Journal Club, conversations built upon the ideas and strategies offered by Impact’s recent article on AI and assessment.
This was followed by an informative session led by Mr Wright and Ms D’Cruz who gave feedback on their attendance at the AI in Education Conference and themes and lectures they had been inspired by. A discussion was then led by Dr Scott encouraging staff to share their experiences on how they are using AI in a positive way to support their work. This also led to the sharing of pitfalls and some of the ethical implications that we need to be mindful of.
Thursday welcomed guest speaker Arran Smith who guided staff through a whistle-stop tour of the Office365 features that can be used to support our pupils’ learning and neurodiverse needs. He managed to cover a wide range of ideas that we can guide our pupils towards so they can empower their own education.
The week concluded with Mrs Gudgin giving a brilliant walkthrough on how she and the Computer Science Department use mail merge to send test breakdowns to individual pupils' test results to save time and provide personalised feedback.
It was another excellent week of teacher CPD giving staff lots of ideas to think about over the summer.
