For our recent History and Politics Society lecture, we were delighted to welcome Eleanor Shawcross, former Director of the Number 10 Policy Unit under Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, to speak about her career path and what it's like working in policy-making.
Eleanor Shawcross explained her motivations for working in policy-making, and what factors policy-makers need to look out for when drafting new legislation.
Our Head of PSHEE Dr Lesley Gray also gave a fantastic talk about teenage cancers and her own diagnosis of Hodgkin’s lymphoma at age 21. She discussed her treatments, late effects, survivor's guilt and the stigma faced by those with and who survive cancer.
