REMEMBRANCE POPPIES IN D&T

For Remembrance Day, our First Form pupils created their own 3D acrylic poppies in Design and Technology (D&T).

Each poppy was carefully engraved, with the plastic pieces bonded together using a glue that triggers an exothermic reaction. After bonding, the poppies were gently softened in the oven and then moulded by hand (with safety gloves on!).

Our pupil poppies are now on display in the Wellbeing Garden where pupils and staff can reflect on their beauty and their meaning.

I loved the poppy making experience; it was fun while also teaching me about D&T. My favourite part was when we created our design on the computer because we had the freedom to create what we wanted, the way we wanted.
