SPEAKING SPANISH AND SURFING WAVES IN GALICIA

During half term a record-breaking 49 Third and Fourth Form pupils embarked on an unforgettable adventure in La Coruña, northwest Spain.

The Fourth Formers enjoyed a very special experience staying with the famously hospitable Galician families.

Spanish lessons in the mornings were combined with a range of exciting afternoon activities! We enjoyed a tapas cooking workshop, visited the aquarium, the planetarium, and enjoyed a fascinating guided tour of the historical city of Santiago, with the famous Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.

A highlight of the trip was undoubtedly the amazing surfing lessons, with both pupils and staff hitting the waves!

At the local market, pupils had the opportunity to practise their Spanish by speaking to local vendors.

All the pupils were wonderful company and boosted their Spanish language skills, as well as their confidence to catch a wave on the surfboard!
