GERMAN FOOTBALL FUN!

On Monday 3 March, our Second and Third Form pupils studying German had the exciting opportunity to participate in a football-themed morning, combining both physical activity and career insights with language learning. This unique event featured two engaging sessions, both led by Steve Eadon from Mingalaba.

The first session was a fun and interactive football coaching clinic, where pupils had the chance to improve their skills while learning football terminology in German. This hands-on experience gave everyone a taste of how language can be applied in a sporting context, all while enjoying a bit of friendly competition!

The second session was a presentation on careers in sport, followed by a Q&A session. Steve shared his extensive experience, including his time working at Arsenal Football Club, where he managed the ‘Double Club’ outreach programme. To date he has coached players in twelve different countries across five continents. As well as some significant name dropping in his presentation, he also impressed upon pupils the benefits of continuing to study languages in order to improve your interpersonal skills and open the door to future career opportunities.

This event was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to combine passion for football with their studies in German, while learning about the exciting opportunities that lie ahead for those who pursue language skills in their careers.
