On 17 March, our Lower Sixth Form Politics students had an enriching and immersive experience during a visit to Parliament, Westminster, and the Supreme Court.
The day began with a comprehensive tour of the Houses of Parliament, where students explored iconic locations such as the King’s Robing Room which is used during State Openings of Parliament, and the majestic House of Lords and House of Commons. One of the highlights was an interactive moment in the Lobby, where students pretended to be journalists conducting interviews, offering a fun and engaging way to understand the inner workings of political communication.
Following the tour, the students took part in an engaging workshop focused on the electoral process, where they learned about the strategies and challenges of running for office. In a competitive yet lighthearted contest, the Tangtastics Party emerged victorious, showcasing their political campaigning skills and creativity!
Next, the group had the privilege of a Q&A session with Daisy Cooper, MP for St Albans. Students had the opportunity to ask questions about her career, her views on current political issues, and the realities of being an MP.
