BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

William in First Form performed as a treble soloist for a joint concert by the St Albans Chamber Choir and the Wormser Kantorei (from St Albans' twin town in Germany) including Bernstein's Chichester Psalms.

Mr Forbes-Whitehead hiked the Virtual London Marathon. Using the TCS London Marathon app he set his own route for the 26.2 miles and raised money for SSAFA, The Armed Forces Charity. He started at the School's War Memorial heading out of St Albans and around the surrounding countryside and back to School. Self supported, he completed 44652 steps, burnt 3061 calories, gained over a 1000ft more elevation than the actual course and completed the distance in 5hrs 39 minutes and 48 seconds. Michael, Zac and Matthew in Third Form had their science videos published in the academic journal School Science Review. Their digital lab report videos were an excellent example of how technology can support practical work and will help inspire other science teachers to explore how video media can support teaching and learning in the classroom. They were subsequently invited to lunch with the Vice President from Adobe last week, who was visiting the UK from the States.
