Last week, the Gallery at New Place hosted the Junior House Drama event. Each House was given stimulus material, including various images related to weather and the seasons and tasked with devising their own theatrical performances. The evening was adjudicated by professional actor David Houston, who recently taught at St Albans School, and hosted by Ben, Lower Sixth Form.
Renfrew claimed first place with their performance titled Trapped, which David praised for its heartfelt and authentic portrayal in a West Side Story style. Hawking delivered an exuberant performance with Quagmire, a story about a dubious individual in a cabin in the woods, earning Daaniyal the Standout Performance award. Marsh presented a tale of revenge that spiralled out of control for a new boy at school, while Hampson's Missing followed a multi-generational search for a missing grandfather.
A big thank you to all the Houses and teachers who supported the event, making it such a memorable evening.
