The CCF trip to the Herts Young Mariners Base was a memorable experience for all who attended. The day started with caving which, although quite challenging at points, was a fun and exciting way of practicing key teamwork skills whilst helping each other navigate the cave system at the base. Our instructors were knowledgeable and experts at guiding us in the caves and helping us think through and tackle difficulties. After exiting the caves, we had a kayaking experience on the lake during which we were set competitive and fun tasks to challenge our ability on the water. One of the highlights of the kayaking was the handball game on water but with no paddles which tested our communication and problem-solving skills whilst insuring we got wet ready for paddle boarding. After lunch our final activity was paddle boarding. Although for most students it wasn’t their first time paddle boarding, it was for me and therefore my personal challenge of the day! With the help and advice of our instructors we all managed to have a lot of fun paddle boarding with many fun games and challenges for us to attempt on the paddle boards. On behalf of all of us who attended, thank you so much to the instructors at the Herts Young Mariners Base and to all the staff for giving up their Saturday to give us such a memorable day.
