We are delighted to share the latest issue of The Gateway Chronicle, our own history journal which is published annually. It is researched, written, and edited by a dedicated team of pupils across all year groups.where this year’s theme, Meanwhile, Elsewhere, invites readers to step beyond familiar narratives and uncover the global interconnectivity of history. Too often told as a straight line, history is in fact a tapestry of parallel movements, innovations, and struggles unfolding across continents and cultures. In this edition, we place watershed moments, such as the Tet Offensive, side by side with equally transformative but lesser-known events, like the pioneering Swiss Suffragette movement. By doing so, we hope to challenge the idea that history belongs only to the most powerful figures and instead highlight the diversity of experiences that shape our shared past.
A huge thank you goes to our talented contributors and to Mrs Gregory for her tireless support, without which this chronicle would not be possible. We hope you enjoy turning these pages and discovering the fascinating stories of what was happening “meanwhile, elsewhere.”
