This summer, the Drama Department celebrated its fifth year performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August with the comedic, spoof Daisy Pulls It Off by Denise Deegan. Known as the world's largest arts festival, this year saw 3,352 shows performed across 265 venues celebrating work from 58 countries.
It was a busy trip which included countless hours of walking around the city of Edinburgh. Not only did students perform at the festival but they also had to hand out flyers in costume every day, marketing their show to the public. Over four days, they managed to squeeze in watching ten shows! One of these had them all standing in complete darkness, wearing headphones and using their own arcade machine as they entered a video game, each emerging with a different narrative. The standout show was a sketch comedy performed by identical twins called Pear Phobia which had them laughing from start to finish. 110 people came to watch Daisy Pulls It Off over the course of three performances, with the first show being a sell out! An incredible achievement in such a small venue. The trip was a celebration of creativity, teamwork, and the magic of live performance. Most of all, students came away with memorable experiences, having represented the School with energy, humour, and true dramatic flair.
