Pupils recently enjoyed a fascinating visit to Steinway & Sons in central London, where they were given a tour of the showroom and workshop. It was a great opportunity to see first-hand how Steinway pianos are crafted and restored, with an insight into the care and precision that goes into each instrument.
During the visit, pupils also had the chance to try out the Steinway Spirio, a high-resolution player piano that can record and play back performances. Two pupils recorded their pieces on the Spirio, which were later played in the background as parents arrived for the concert and welcome drinks, a lovely touch that helped set the tone for the evening.
The day concluded with a well-attended concert at Steinway Hall, featuring performances by 12 pupils and Ms Le Hair, one of our piano teachers. The programme included a wide range of repertoire, with several standout moments:
Jeux d’eau by Ravel, performed by Felix
Berceuse by Chopin, played by Jasper
The Sonata by Alban Berg, interpreted by Henry
October from The Seasons by Tchaikovsky, performed by Josh
