The St Albans School Second Hand Uniform Shop, lovingly organised by former parent Anne Martin, has become a wonderful tradition within our school community. Normally held twice a term, the pop-up shop at Woollams not only gives families the chance to purchase good-quality second-hand uniform, but also channels every penny raised directly to charitable causes.
Since December 2022, donations from the shop have totalled an incredible £16,000, all of which has been distributed amongst a wide range of local and national charities. A further £4,000 is soon to be donated, with charities currently being selected.
The funds raised have already supported the following organisations:
Youth Talk
Young Lives vs Cancer
The Ollie Foundation
School Bursary
Christchurch (Monday night meals for the local community)
Hazlecroft Rescue
Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal
MNDA
St Francis Hospice
Mr Stout GoFundMe Page
Ataxia UK
UMRIO
St Albans District Food Bank
Centre 33
What makes this initiative so special is that all money raised goes directly to charity. There are no overheads at all, the shop is run entirely on a voluntary basis. It's a great example of how our community can come together to support others, whether close to home or further afield. We are extremely grateful to everyone who helps to make this project possible.
