I have always been fascinated by the question – What is reality, and where did matter come from? Philosophy means ‘love of wisdom’ in Greek, and is the study of our existence, different values and minds of people. It is the discussion of profound questions in the nature of reality, which allows us to think critically and to look at different perspectives, enhancing our logical thinking skills. Studying Philosophy at A Level is a refreshing and interesting experience. It is disparate compared to the usual subjects, focusing more on distinct ideas and precision – to synthesise a variety of perspectives into a unified whole. Philosophy is a fascinating subject when it comes to developing explicit communicative powers and these skills can be applied to any endeavour in life.
