STAFF VS PUPILS FOR WELLCHILD
Staff and pupils gathered to play a Netball match for the charity WellChild and organised by Charity Prefects Ella and Max. WellChild is a UK based charity that helps seriously ill children receive treatment at home rather than in hospital. During the match they sold Krispy Kreme doughnuts to help raise more money, and collected donations from everyone. It was an exciting event but after thirty minutes, the staff team sealed their victory!
LOUCAS FUNDRAISING FOR DIABETES UK
I am currently working towards my Silver Duke of Edinburgh's Award and as part of this scheme, I have been supporting Diabetes UK’s fundraising efforts. Recently, I have been learning about their bid to become Royal Mail and Parcel Force’s Charity Partner. If successful, this partnership would be a huge fundraising opportunity resulting in around two million pounds for the charity. More significantly, it would also provide an opportunity to raise awareness of diabetes as a serious health condition impacting millions of people, especially those who are the poorest in society.
Diabetes UK, alongside two other charities are in the final three for the partnership. In order to be successful, the charity that receives the most votes from Royal Mail and Parcel Force employees will win. To canvas votes and build up the profile of Diabetes UK locally, I have been speaking to our postman to encourage him to get behind Diabetes UK and vote for us. Also, I have been putting up posters in several post offices to promote our cause. I have really enjoyed fundraising and look forward to doing more.
SAVANNAH EDUCATION TRUST
The Charity Challenge is a Friday afternoon activity for Lower Sixth Form pupils with that focusses on helping to organise and promote the fundraising activities for charity at the School. The numbers are in and we are proud to share that one of the groups raised over £2459.65 last year via various fundraising events for The Savannah Education Trust. This charity provides an education for some of the poorest children in West Africa through the provision of schools in northern Ghana. We would like to extend a massive Thank You to all the parents and pupils who supported them!
