Within Physics as an A Level, we study the make-up of the universe, from the smallest particle to the largest stars. We study why modern electronics work the way they do, and how the very atoms that we are made of came into existence. Obviously condensing all of this into a two-year course is no easy task. However, the Physics Department do so in the most captivating way possible.
We begin the course in the Lower Sixth Form by studying both electricity and force vectors. This is split between two teachers, with one covering each.
Physics is largely reliant on experimentation, as everything we study is derived from real observations, meaning that the course contains a very large number of practicals - we attempted to determine the value of g (acceleration due to gravity) on Earth just a few a days ago. This means that two Physics lessons are never the same, with us being exposed to new ideas and equipment almost every day. Hence Physics is a subject like no other, with every lesson being both interesting and engaging, and a Department with the knowledge to answer any question that a Physics student may have.
