Pupils talk about the Lower School Book Club
The Library is a popular, welcoming and busy area at St Albans School. It is full of character and charm in a location set amongst the oldest parts of the School, and pupils appreciate the Library’s peaceful atmosphere that is conducive to their reading and study. The Library is filled with resources for Lower School, GCSE and A Level courses. In the Library students are encouraged to read beyond their prescribed curriculum; to become familiar with techniques for Library Research and to read for pleasure. Fiction and non-fiction books are complemented by a selection of periodicals and magazines, newspapers and online resources and subscriptions. The Library is staffed by a full-time Librarian (Dr McCabe), an Assistant Librarian (Mrs Feyisetan) and a Library Assistant (Ms Coffey).
We recently chatted with the Lower School Book Club who meet in the Junior Library every week during their lunch break. Together they share their love of reading and discuss books they have recently enjoyed. The Book Club also shadow awards such as the Royal Society of Science Young People’s Book Award, the Juniper Book Awards, the Yoto Carnegie Book Awards and the Excelsior Awards.
