A Level Drama

Annie from The Stanislavski Experience provided a challenging and insightful workshop for Lower Sixth Form Drama students focused on the methodology of theatre giant Steven Berkoff. The variety of physical exercises explored to create the idea of 'total theatre' pushed students to their limits at times and saw them contort their bodies in unusual ways. Students will now use what they have learnt to create a short production inspired by Berkoff and their stimulus material 'Metamorphosis' which will form part of their upcoming mock assessment.

GCSE Drama

The Paper Birds were back again this year to provide a practical workshop for Fourth Form Drama students on devising work from scratch. During the two-hour session, students explored the idea of stylised movement, the use of verbatim material and different forms of storytelling using vocal skills. The workshop allowed students to turn ideas into action quickly and they were actively told to forget about perfection or 'getting it right'. This concept allows students greater freedom in the rehearsal room and encourages them to willingly contribute their own ideas when working collaboratively.
