Grand Prior Award

Congratulations to Lower Sixth Former Ibrahim who received his Grand Prior Award for the St John Ambulance from HRH The Princess Royal last week. Ibrahim also won District Cadet of the Year for the West Anglia region in December and was a finalist in the recent National Cadet of the Year competition.

On the 22 February 2023, I was invited to attend St John Ambulance’s District Youth Awards Ceremony to receive my Grand Prior’s Award. This accolade celebrates the studying of 24 different subjects over four years by committing once every week to learn new skills. It was an absolute honour to have my award presented by HRH The Princess Royal and it was an even greater honour to have the opportunity to be able to speak with her after the ceremony concluded.

I joined St John Ambulance at the age of 11 as a cadet in the Harpenden unit and have been committed with the organisation ever since. I have learnt a range of valuable skills during my time so far, ranging from first aid to developing my leadership skills as well as having been able to provide medical care to the public at events such as Arsenal football matches at the Emirates Stadium and the London Marathon. I have also achieved the title of District Cadet of the Year and became a finalist in the National Cadet of the Year Competition, representing Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire on a national scale within the organisation. I am very grateful for the opportunities that I have been provided with and I would highly recommend the organisation to anyone who is looking for something life-saving and inspiring to do.
