On Monday 2 December, we hosted a four round chess jamboree for Years 7 and 8 in which seven teams of four players from four schools competed. For many, it was their first experience of competitive chess, and there was much enjoyment to be taken from the fixture. Our teams performed admirably, with the A and B teams placing second and third, respectively. Congratulations to Naren, Xander, and Faisal for winning all four of their matches. Unfortunately, the Beaumont School A team edged us out by half a point, securing the sole direct berth at the National Finals. Nonetheless, the overall result is promising for the future.
