Celebrating Christmas Jumper Day

Last week, we celebrated Christmas Jumper Day by wearing our favourite Christmas jumpers and raising money to support a special cause in Malawi - a community charity that is doing incredible work. The funds will go towards purchasing doors for a newly built nursery school, offering children a safe and welcoming environment to learn and grow.

In addition, donations will help provide a daily meal of maize porridge for the children who attend the nursery - many of whom are orphans, lovingly cared for by the village community. It’s wonderful to know that our contributions will help these children thrive and create a brighter future for them.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who wore their Christmas jumper and donated - your kindness and generosity really makes a difference!

Movember

This year the Lower Sixth Charity Challenge group, consisting of James, Olly, Ruairi, Ezel, Mylo, Melinda and Jonathan, launched Movember as part of the Charity Challenge Programme. The fundraiser was a great success, though some pupils had more prominent results than others! James who is leading this year's group commented:

‘We decided to support the charity Centrepoint, in light of the increasing prevalence of homelessness in the years since Lockdown. This year marks the all-time highest number of homeless families, an 8% increase on last year, and we are hoping to help in any way we can. Alongside many events, we came up with the Movember scheme where many boys in our year received donations from friends and family to grow a moustache for one month. In total we have raised £460.00.

What's next? We are organising an Oasis tribute concert on Friday 31 January and would really appreciate everyone's support. Tickets will be on sale soon so watch this space!

The festive spirit was alive and well at this year's Christmas Cake Sale, organized by Form 4.6. With pupils and staff coming together, this fundraiser was a huge success, all in support of Kelvin and his community in Sierra Leone.

For the past 12 years, Form 4.6 has been proudly sponsoring Kelvin through World Vision, and this event is a special way to continue that tradition. The sale was a hit, drawing in a big crowd eager to enjoy a delicious selection of cookies, doughnuts, cupcakes, plus vegan and gluten-free options. There was also a fun Lucky Dip, festive Christmas tunes, and even a special guest appearance.
